Bixby Grant, Private Eye, is an 80-page, square-bound, full-color comic book (aka perfect bound, and previously called “prestige format” by comic publishers). The book contains a Kickstarter-exclusive 72-page original story and a never-before seen stand-alone 7-page back-up story. It’s a complete story, no prior knowledge of the characters is required, and you won’t have to wait for a follow-up issue for the story to finish.

Who Is BIXBY GRANT Private Eye?

Bixby Grant is a man with no reason to live, and no way to die. Ninety years ago, Bix unleashed the Pharaoh’s Curse and was turned into a living mummy! That very night, the love of his life, Dolores, was kidnapped, and despite his best efforts, Bix couldn’t save her. She disappeared, never to be seen again.

I wanted to take a moment to share some of my other writings.

From time to time I post some short stories on Medium, you can follow me here if you'd like.

This piece was for a micro-fiction contest, sadly, did not win, lol. But now I get to share it with you!

Turning Your Name

Sand and Salt, some of the smallest of trolls, hid behind a grotesquely large redcap. “Shh,” whispered Sand.

“You, shh!” whispered an annoyed Salt, giving Sand a little shove.

“Come out, come out! I know you’re near, little morsels,” called a large, but still growing, teenaged ogre.

Sand and Salt went stiff with fear behind the mushroom’s stem. The ogre, who had spotted them while they were playing a friendly game of tag by an outcropping of boulders, was stomping nearer. He paused and sniffed the air, “Mmmm, I can smell ye on the wind. Now show yourselves!”

Salt gingerly peeked his head around the redcap’s stem in a foolish attempt to see how far away the ogre was, which was not far at all. The movement caught the ogre’s eyes, and he grinned a terrible grin, “I’ve got you now!” He pounced after the trolls.

“Salt!” Sand yelled as they sped as fast as they could away from the ogre, who was nearly upon them. “Don’t you ever use your head!”

“Sorry, Sand!” They ran frantically, “Look! The beach.”

Sand nodded in agreement; sharply they turned towards a sandy beach beside the river, the ogre on their heels.

“No point in running little — ” Sand and Salt touched the sand and morphed into their namesakes, mixing with the shore. “Where did you… where — ” the ogre looked around, defeated. “Not fair little ones! Not fair,” he stomped back off into the forest. The shore let out two faint giggles.

If you enjoyed this please consider giving it some claps on Medium.

And I wanted to announce this really cool cross-promo item <3

This cute 4” x 6” print of Fang from Fangs & Foul Play and Necro from Mary Shelley’s School of Monsters. Art by Mark Mactal!!!

Ok, so how does this work?

Glad you asked. (You asked, right?)

So all you have to do is back both campaigns at any level and you'll get a digital copy of this print, if you back both campaigns at a physical level you'll get a glossy 4" x 6"physical print!

Mary Shelley’s School of Monsters, by Jessica Maison Judd, is about an alternate version of Mary Shelley. A young Mary Shelley encounters an occult scientist, Dr. M, and a living book of spells, Necro (The Necronomicon), who accidentally split her into two versions of herself—

One, the literary giant who goes on to write Frankenstein.

The other, a supernatural girl, Shel, who spends her immortality fighting evil humans who exploit monsters.

Check out Mary Shelley's School of Monsters, here!

So, you know who Fang is, but who is Necro?

Necro is is a living version of the Necronomicon, the Book of the Dead, an evil book supposedly created by the author H.P. Lovecraft, but that’s not the actual truth. Necro was around way before Lovecraft, and she’s evil but not in the way we’ve come to understand evil. She draws her power from the underworld but doesn’t do so with ill will. Necro acts like a small dog when she’s in her living form. When Necro met Shel, they were bound together and became one of the most powerful magical tools in the universe, able to cast almost any spell, curse, or hex.
